Job Description:

Summary:

Seeking a motivated graduate student for paid part-time assistant to support the Campaign Management Institute in the Center for Congressional & Presidential Studies at American University's School of Public Affairs. The position requires 5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. 

Essential Functions:

  • Creating and executing social media content to attract applications and generally raise awareness of CMI.

  • Providing AV and other event support for CMI Director and guest speakers while CMI is in session.

  • Ordering and managing coffee and lunch for participants while CMI is in session.

  • Additional responsibilities will be needed leading up to and immediately following the sessions, some of which may be completed remotely.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • Student.

  • The position is available for an average of 5 hours per week, with expanded hours needed during the sessions.

  • Ability to work in person at American University's NW DC campus on January 5 -11, 2026.

  • This position will work during the winter Intersession from December 1 - December 19th.

  • The primary focus will be to support the CMI Director in person from January 5, working through January 30th, 2026.

Salary Range:

  • $18.75 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a SPA master’s program.

  • Students who've taken CMI are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Experience with social media platforms required. 

  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks on a flexible schedule.
