MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide athletic training services for all Marymount University student-athletes and for student-athletes of visiting teams traveling without an athletic trainer for all home games.
Directly supervise Assistant Athletic Trainers, Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers and Per Diem Athletic Trainers
Establish athletic training staff schedules to provide practice and game day coverage
Work closely with the Team Physician, Director of the Student Health Center, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and each coach to address any injury or illness concerns
Recruit and retain Assistant Athletic Trainers
Ensure medical records are kept up to date by athletic training staff including history, daily treatment records, injury reports and physician referrals while in compliance with all current regulations.
Coordinate with Team Physician to schedule and conduct pre-participation screenings
Ensure primary and secondary insurance procedures are followed by all athletic trainers for compliance with University and NCAA policies
Manage the athletic training budget
Coordinate and supervise University and/ or NCAA drug testing as needed
OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS
Manage and supervise the care and maintenance of the training room facilities
Maintain supplies and equipment inventory providing Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development with appropriate bids and quotes.
Provide in-service training for athletic department staff
Hire and supervise work study students
Work closely with department supervisor to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success.
Responsible for working with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and departmental goals and key performance indicators.
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, ideally working with student-athletes in an intercollegiate setting. Must have strong communications skills including ability to communicate by telephone/e-mail/text.
Licenses or Certifications
NATABOC certified athletic trainer
Financial Responsibility
Annually preparing and managing the athletic training budgets.
Supervision
The Head Athletic Trainer will supervise all Assistant Athletic Trainers, Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers and Per Diem Athletic Trainers. Additionally, the Head Athletic Trainer will oversee the supervision of work study student, visiting athletic training students and student-athletes under the care of the athletic training staff
Special Knowledge
Experience/certification with alternative therapies (IASTM, myofascial decompression, blood flow restriction, dry needling, etc…) to enhance the student-athletes treatment and recovery process is a plus
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to travel; heavy lifting required (50 pounds and over); may be required to work when the university is closed. Ability to work in less than ideal weather conditions (i.e. high heat and below freezing temperatures with various precipitation). Ability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays
