This position has single point accountability directing turbine/generator outage teams and leads mechanical troubleshooting on turbine/generators while in operation and/or while undergoing inspection/maintenance/repair during in scheduled outages. This position is responsible for providing direction and coordination of mechanical field and technical outage teams for all phases of project planning and execution to ensure all project success factors are met, including but not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, and integration.
This position typically is assigned to high profile and complex turbine generator maintenance outages or emergent discovery outages. Incumbents require high levels of technical competence and leadership capability. The Lead specialist serves as the unifying agent providing leadership, direction, coordination, and control of the overall outage in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of The Company.
Incumbents would be expected to manage multiple (3+) outages/projects in various stages of development, planning and execution. This position is considered a technical-leadership position; minimum qualifications must be met to be placed within this position. To advance to this level, a business justification must be provided and approved by FHO and/or Nuclear TG leadership.
Associate's degree
In addition to required degree, 8 years related work experience
In Lieu of associate's degree, HS Diploma/GED and 10 years of related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to perform the necessary calculations to align turbine-generator components including but not limited to diaphragms, shell /casing, coupling and bearings.
Proven knowledge of turbine- generator construction, disassemble, inspection and reassemble techniques.
Served as the technical lead on steam path maintenance or upgrades project(s).
Participated in the development and/or review of purchase or repair specifications.
Capable of providing turbine-generator technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of high impact, complex and cross-functional problems at a corporate or industry level.
Proven ability to interpret construction and maintenance codes and standards required for performance of the assigned turbine-generator maintenance activities.
Possesses expert knowledge of the organization; demonstrates a mastery of existing and emerging organizational technologies, issues, processes an practices.
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
The following are nuclear specific qualifications:
Technical Nuclear certification, Reactor Operator (RO), Senior Reactor Operator (SRO)
Previous OEM Field Engineer experience
Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
50% + Travel is required
5+ years of Sr Turbine-Generator Specialist, Turbine Supervision, or equivalent leadership experience.
Associates + 8 years of experience, Bachelors + 6 years of experience, or High School + 10 years of experience
