Design and validate metrology systems for dimensional, optical, and surface measurements.
Select appropriate measurement tools and technologies (e.g., CMM, laser scanners, interferometers).
Develop custom measurement protocols for complex geometries and materials.
Establish and maintain calibration procedures for all metrology equipment.
Ensure traceability to national/international standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).
Conduct periodic audits and assessments of calibration systems.
Analyze measurement data using statistical tools (e.g., SPC, GR&R).
Interpret results to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Generate detailed reports for internal teams and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with manufacturing and R&D teams to improve measurement accuracy and repeatability.
Identify opportunities for automation and digital integration in metrology workflows.
Lead initiatives to reduce measurement uncertainty and improve throughput.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 17025, ASME Y14.5).
Maintain comprehensive documentation of measurement procedures and results.
Support regulatory audits and customer inspections.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
Lead cross-functional teams on metrology-related projects.
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in metrology.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in metrology, preferably in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
Proficiency with metrology tools (e.g., CMM, profilometers, optical comparators).
Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
Familiarity with ISO and ASTM standards related to measurement and calibration.
Experience with automated inspection systems and machine vision.
Certification in metrology or quality systems (e.g., ASQ CQE, CCT).
Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, LabVIEW) for data acquisition and analysis.
Excellent communication and project management skills.
Prior ultrasonic scanning experience.
Prior Helium Checker experience.
Level 2 ultrasonic testing certification.
Nondestructive Testing certification (ANST NDT).
Formal Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) training.
