Position Summary

A career in Rates within SJI involves compiling and analyzing data from company records, financial data and operating statistics which are necessary for filing rate and regulatory reports, rate filings and tariff structures. In addition, this role will prepare schedules and tariffs to meet company revenue needs, comply with regulatory requirements and prepare necessary exhibits in rate case and other regulatory initiative filings. Also, this role will assist in modeling, forecasting, and providing variance explanations related to rate and regulatory items.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Maintain and update rate models with financial and accounting data and prepare related analyses. 

  • Prepare monthly rate calculations and associated filings and update the billing system. 

  • Assist in the preparation of testimony and supporting exhibits for regulatory filings. 

  • Draft, review and track discovery for regulatory filings. 

  • Assist with the development of rate case materials and support expert witnesses as needed. 

  • Determine the impact of rate activities on customer bills and company financials. 

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the company’s tariff and BPU regulations.  

  • Perform various ad hoc analyses, interpret results, and present in a concise manner. 

  • Monitor communications related to rate matters and keep abreast of current regulatory developments and their potential impact to rates and filing requirements. 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience. 

  • Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field 

  • Strong attention to detail 

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data and present it in an understandable manner appropriate for the audience. 

  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple assignments and competing deadlines. 

  • Able to deal with ambiguity. 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. 

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skill level, specifically Excel, as well as Word proficiency

    Compensation Range:

    $70,125 - 112,200

    We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
