POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the receipt of biological lab specimens into the department. Performs pre and post analytical sorting of specimens for distribution to the appropriate areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS

Requires significant standing. Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Must use universal precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and body fluids. Communicates effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone. May require periodic use of personal computer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Good reading, writing and math abilities.

• Oral and written communication skills sufficient to understand written and spoken instructions in English.

• Good organization skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum age requirement of 18.

• Must meet all training competency qualifications for Specimen Preparation Sorter within six months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
