Banner Ocotillo Medical Center is a new, comprehensive medical center located in Chandler, AZ. The hospital has 124 beds with ample shelled space for future growth. The hospital offers key inpatient and outpatient services, such as emergency care, intensive care, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization, imaging, surgical and women’s services. The hospital utilizes cutting-edge technology to improve safety and quality, including robotic surgeries, UV disinfecting lighting, and smart devices for all caregivers.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position, under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures on patients. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide optimal care\treatment to patient population.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Under the direction of a physician, assists in performing all diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures including all types of structural heart and hemodynamic support cases and/ or complex EP cases to includes case types such as advanced cardiac procedures such as TAVR, TMVR, Mitra Clip, Impella 5.0, Tandem, ECMO and pediatric specialty) to treat heart disease in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Performs/reviews a baseline patient evaluation as defined by scope of practice and facility. Evaluates patients’ response to diagnosis, interventional maneuvers and medications during procedures. In EP Specialty, demonstrates knowledge, ability and skill to support complex EP cases (e.g. epicardial AF and VT ablations, stereotaxis, bipolar, venous alcohol ablations, leadless pacemaker).

2. Operates all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures in an efficient manner. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance in area of operation. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to all safety policies.

3. Demonstrates expert level knowledge of procedures and techniques, i.e. knowledge of normal and abnormal ECG rhythms and/or lead changes, various hemodynamic values, normal and abnormal pressures, ST elevation/depression. Monitors and records ECG and pressure waves during the procedures. Provides other aspects of patient care as needed.

4. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic and sterile techniques as well as universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies into case cart for processing. Prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.


5. Demonstrates clinical expertise, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. May participate in employee performance assessments when serving as a preceptor. Participates in staff development, orientation, education and evaluation of clinical competencies when serving as a mentor or preceptor as assigned.

6. Accountable for the ethical, legal and professional responsibilities related to the score of practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This job profile is utilized at facilities with a high acuity Cath Lab that performs structural heart or primarily complex intervention cases. Completion of a Cardiovascular Invasive program or equivalent experience.

Requires ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology (RT) as required by state law. Licensure and/or certification(s) as required by state regulatory agency, if applicable. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required where applicable.

Requires Post primary certifications with minimum of 5 years’ Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP) or equivalent experience OR 7 years Cath Lab, EP or equivalent with at least 3 years in a high acuity/structural heart or most complex interventions.

Demonstrated expertise in high acuity/structural heart or most complex interventions.

Proficient in various Cath Lab procedures and techniques. The position requires the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations. The position requires the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the health care staff and patient.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
