Overall Summary:
We are looking for a highly organized and detail-driven Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Coordinator to establish and maintain engineering design systems that enable smooth product development from concept to production. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of CAD structures, part numbering schemes, and BOMs, while driving implementation and management of Product Data Management (PDM) systems to support a robust New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
Location: Onsite in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Responsibilities:
CAD Structure Management
Develop and enforce standardized CAD methodologies across design teams
Ensure models, assemblies, and drawings are organized and maintained in alignment with project workflows
Part Numbering & BOM Control
Define and administer consistent part numbering schemes and naming conventions
Manage engineering Bills of Materials (eBOMs) and support transition to manufacturing BOMs
PDM System Implementation
Lead deployment and continuous optimization of Product Data Management (PDM) tools
Define folder structures, permission protocols, revision control, and lifecycle rules
NPI Process Support
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to facilitate design reviews and change tracking
Ensure all CAD data and documentation are aligned with NPI milestones and gate reviews
Documentation & Governance
Create and maintain process documentation, CAD standards, and user guidelines
Conduct audits for compliance with documentation, revision control, and configuration management policies
Training & Cross-functional Support
Provide training and technical guidance to engineers and designers on CAD and PDM usage
Act as liaison between Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, and IT for system and process troubleshooting
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, Mechanical Design, or related field required.
2+ years' experience in CAD coordination, CAD design, or configuration management required, in manufacturing strongly preferred.
Experience supporting NPI required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with ERP integration
Understanding of regulatory documentation and design compliance standards (ISO, ASME, etc.)
Experience with GD&T standards
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo) and experience with PDM systems
Experience with PLM systems
Strong understanding of design documentation, BOM structures, and revision control practices
Excellent organizational, communication, and technical writing skills
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Working Conditions:
Office Environment – must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading. May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
