Job Summary

Drive sales and build strong relationships with producers to generate revenue and meet sales quotas. The Internal Sales Consultant proactively calls agents and recruits new agents to build a book of business. This position ensures constant communication with all members of the team as well as with the producers working to develop strong relationships and promoting agent recruiting and retention through sales ideas, marketing campaigns, illustrations and effective management and utilization of Hanleigh resources. Position will be Hybrid in the office a few days per week.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The following summarizes the key functions of this role. Additional duties—both major and minor—may be assigned as business needs evolve.

Sales & Producer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key producers to discuss complex sales concepts, marketing strategies, and product details.
  • Maintain proactive, ongoing relationships with aligned producers/agents/brokers through consistent profiling, relationship‑building, and refreshment of their producer base.
  • Develop new business by recruiting new agents and expanding existing agent groups to maximize revenue potential.
  • Partner with External Sales Consultants to support producer development and overall business retention.
  • Conduct outbound sales calls to Tier 2 and Tier 3 agents who are typically not serviced in person.
  • Support incremental growth of the aligned book of business in alignment with organizational strategic plans.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and producers to run insurance illustrations and propose creative solutions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pending priority cases and drive closure on key business opportunities.
  • Lead regular sales team meetings, establish priorities, and ensure each team member understands their responsibilities.
  • Prepare monthly forecasts, maintain an active “hot list” of cases, and provide updates to leadership.
  • Maintain proactive, supportive relationships with Sales, Underwriting, Operations, and internal corporate solution centers.
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge of core Hanleigh products, carriers, and internal corporate resources.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective time‑management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self‑directed with strong personal accountability.
  • Proficiency using PCs in a Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Proven relationship‑building skills.
  • Prior experience with life insurance products.
  • Understanding of sales concepts, insurance illustrations, and underwriting processes.
  • Knowledge of commissions and client service workflows.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and sound judgment in decision‑making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience in the Disability or Life insurance industry.
  • Experience with Group Insurance solutions or Executive Benefits consulting.
  • Active state insurance licenses.
