Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for leading, guiding and contributing to the systems engineering verification efforts across GE Aerospace’s Common Core Platform and Compute Systems. This role has accountability for assigned systems engineering duties for the IMA and Federated product lines. This role involves systems development and verification execution responsibilities, leadership, coaching and assistance to the project teams to ensure they deliver on safety, quality, delivery, cost, schedule and project milestones.
This position has the following essential responsibilities:
Execute plans and tasks related to systems engineering verification activities for aircraft computing products.
Execution of development (requirements) activities may also be expected. (Ex. Generate system functional requirements from stakeholder expectations.)
Coordinate with Technical Lead(s) and peers to generate and execute projects/design plans and reviews.
Develop and execute test cases and procedures to verify the system under test.
Manage and coordinate issues, problem reports, deviations, and change requests to closure.
Coordinate design changes and deliveries with Safety, Security, Quality and Certification organizations.
Interact with customer engineering organizations to define and shape requirements for future platforms and systems.
Accountable for cost and schedule performance on assigned activities.
Maintain performance and Earned Value (EV) metrics and report to leadership.
Lead/manage interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, test, safety, quality, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
Escalate issues that need additional engineering or business leadership assistance in a timely manner.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or relatable field of study.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in design & development and/or technical project leadership within an engineering product development environment.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas.
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE requires proof of status prior to employment
Desired Characteristics:
Ability and desire to mentor other engineers in key technical areas.
Previous experience that enables the candidate to understand and translate between different engineering disciplines.
Systems engineering thought process on verification.
Systems Engineering degree/certification
Prior experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A or B Environment
DO-297, ARP 4754A, DO-178, DO-254 and/or DO-330 process assurance experience
Prior experience working on A653 partition-based operating system
Familiarity with networking products or data concentrator systems
Familiarity with interfaces including but not limited to analog, discrete, RS-232/422/485, ARINC 429/664/825
Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements validation, requirements verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, FAA/EASA/NAA certification, and system safety.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in systems verification activities, including but not limited to test plan creation and execution of test scripts/cases
