Job Description:
The position of Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for all activities required for inspecting incoming shipments according to AKBA requirements and standard operating procedures. This position is also responsible for documenting nonconformances and interfacing with suppliers as necessary to coordinate disposition of product.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform inspections and document results using Good Documentation Practices. Ensure expected documentation is received, accurate and meets specification. Conduct inspections and measurements in accordance with drawings, datasheets and AKBA requirements. Ensure all incoming material is appropriately documented and received in the company ERP and transferred to its appropriate storage location per AKBA procedures.
Control nonconforming product, ensuring it is properly identified and quarantined until final disposition is determined. Prepare and submit nonconforming material reports in the company ERP and investigate and follow up with appropriate departments to ensure closure if required. Perform re-work inspections
And update inspection reports with updated documentation.
C. ADDITIONAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a clean and well-organized area using 5-S principles,
Identify and support quality improvements as assigned.
Must be able to utilize an overhead crane for certain inspections
D. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the Quality Control Supervisor.
No direct reports.
Works closely with Project Engineers, Quality Assurance, Order Fulfillment, Safety, Purchasing, and Accounting staff.
E. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Working knowledge of quality control practices
Quality experience in a machine shop or in a QC role for metal fabricated parts
Working knowledge of basic safe practices of an industrial environment
Strong documentation and organization skills
Working knowledge of use of caliper, OD and depth micrometer, profilometer, and other common measurement tools
Working knowledge of fabricated part drawings and tolerancing
An applied understanding of ISO 9001 requirements
Knowledge of calibration principles
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
Beginner to intermediate skill with Microsoft Office programs
Exceptional attention to detail
Effective communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments
F. PREFERRED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Working knowledge of electronic inspection documentation.
Proven problem-solving experience
Over-head crane operation
G. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The position requires physical mobility and must lift, carry and/or move up to 50lbs multiple times daily.
The position requires standing or sitting for long periods of time, and a working knowledge in use of sensitive instruments and equipment.
The work environment is a heated and air-conditioned space within a manufacturing/mechanical assembly facility.
Safe operation of all equipment including pallet jacks and overhead cranes.
Safety shoes required to be worn at all times (PPE is provided by company). Safety glasses, head protection and gloves must be worn for certain inspections.
On-site and daytime shifts only
The base compensation range for this role is $23-25/hour. Base Compensation is influenced by many factors including, but not limited to: time in the role, previous experience, skills, knowledge, performance, work requirements, internal equity, and business / economic conditions.
