The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a critical member of the clinical treatment team, working under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The RBT provides individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to promote independence, skill development, and improved quality of life. This position requires a current RBT certification and involves delivering evidence-based treatment programs, collecting accurate behavioral data, and ensuring professional and ethical standards are consistently upheld.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide 1:1 direct ABA therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities in home, clinic, school, and community settings.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention strategies designed by the supervising BCBA.
  • Teach functional communication, daily living, self-help, social, and play skills using evidence-based ABA methodologies.
  • Collect and maintain accurate, timely, and detailed data on client progress and behavioral outcomes.
  • Participate in ongoing supervision sessions with a BCBA to ensure fidelity of program implementation.
  • Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments and skills assessments under the guidance of the BCBA.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging therapeutic environment at all times.
  • Adhere to professional, ethical, and confidentiality standards consistent with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Support families and caregivers in understanding and implementing behavioral strategies to generalize skills across settings.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, and continuing education sessions as required to maintain RBT certification.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including educators, therapists, and healthcare professionals, to support holistic client care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the individual and program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required: Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Psychology, Education, ABA, Behavioral Health, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience implementing ABA interventions with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of growth and development, including normal and abnormal developmental patterns across the lifespan.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accurate data collection.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must pass background checks and meet state and organizational requirements for working with vulnerable populations.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly required to lift 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to pull a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Required to regularly stand and walk.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing, and lifting.
