About the Role:

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain hands-on laboratory experience in analytical chemistry and small molecule purification within a leading biotechnology company. Our intern program offers exposure to analytical workflows, chromatography technologies, and discovery research processes.
The Analytical Purification team has a strong reputation in the industry for high-throughput purification, advanced chromatographic method development, and robust analytical support for early drug discovery.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Supporting a range of activities, including small molecule purification, sample analysis, and lab operations
  • Assisting with daily HPLC and SFC runs for small molecule analysis and purification
  • Learning to execute basic achiral and chiral chromatographic methods under supervision
  • Preparing samples and helping maintain high-throughput operations
  • Performing routine instrument readiness checks and basic laboratory maintenance
  • Recording, organizing, and summarizing experimental data
  • Helping evaluate chromatograms and contributing to preliminary data interpretation
  • Supporting lab setup for ongoing purification campaigns and analytical procedures
  • Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional scientists as well as the other summer interns
  • Completing a special project and presenting findings and recommendations to senior management upon completion

Requirements:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree with an interest in biotechnology and/or analytical chemistry
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech lab is an asset but not required
  • Familiarity with concepts in chemistry, analytical methods, or chromatography is desirable
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting
  • Enthusiasm for learning laboratory techniques and contributing to drug discovery research
  • Interest in attending program events including social activities, career workshops, and scientific seminars
  • Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program
