First Orion is looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our Accounting Team. This person will assist with the overall financial and accounting operations of the company in a timely and accurate manner. You will follow accounting policies and procedures and assist with other accounting aspects as needed.

We are looking for a great team player who is positive, self-motivated, energetic and a quick learner with commitment to quality and dedication to long term success. A successful candidate must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as experience in the field.

What you’ll be doing:

• Controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
• Ensuring supplier accounts are kept up to date
• Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
• Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports, recording entries
• Verifying Federal ID numbers, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation
• Ensures credit is received for outstanding memos
• Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
• Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
• Participate in the monthly close process
• Maintains historical records and filing documents
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
• Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed

What you’ll need:

• BS/BA Degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in a professional environment preferred
• Understanding of accounting fundamentals such as A/P, A/R, and G/L
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Problem identification and resolution skills
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to interact with multiple departments
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
