Maintenance Technician

Job Description:

As a part of our continued growth, LKQ is seeking the right person to join our maintenance team!

Maintenance Tech responsibilities include the following:

• Troubleshooting and repairs to machinery and mechanical equipment
• perform carpentry duties necessary to construct and maintain building and equipment
• perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment
• perform various welding operations to maintain plant equipment, processes and facilities
• perform general plumbing duties including water, natural gas, etc.
• perform preventative maintenance on required equipment

In addition, the position may perform other duties as assigned or fill in for others in the department or other departments as needed or requested.  May also train or instruct fellow workers regarding duties.

Basic Qualifications:

Education & Experience:   Ability to read and write.  This is verified through the employment process

Equipment Used:  May include hand tools*, power tools, forklift, ladders, boomlift, scissor-lift, welding equipment, pipe threader, lathe, and various other tools and equipment.  (*hand tools must be provided by employee).

Safety/Safety of Others:  Must wear all company required personal protective equipment in required areas.  Care necessary to avoid placing self and others in an unsafe environment.

Quality of Work:  Provide quality products and services to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.  Quality of work impacts succeeding operations.

Essential Physical Demands: Requires continuous physical effort; short work cycles; repetitive motion work.  Standing 50%, walking 50%.  Lifts, pushes, pulls an average of 80+ lb. Occasionally, 40 lb. Frequently, and 20 lb. Constantly. Bending. Working in tight places.

Work Environment:  Exposures to atmospheric conditions, such as dust, fumes, varying temperature extremes.  Exposure to noise and various chemicals.
