Overview:  

Provide review, analysis, and accurate application of Default-related cash as a key support and analytic function for the Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, REO, and Claims teams. This role is responsible for evaluating complex cash transactions, identifying exceptions, and ensuring funds are applied in accordance with investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal controls. Serve as a liaison across multiple Lines of Business, partnering closely with operational, accounting, and servicing teams to resolve issues, mitigate risk, and ensure Default cash activity is processed accurately and within established service level expectations. The position requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate competing priorities while supporting downstream operational efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:     

  • Perform timely and accurate review of incoming cash activity, ensuring funds are applied within established service level agreements (SLAs) and in accordance with policy.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate data using established routine checklists to support consistent and compliant processing outcomes.
  • Conduct independent problem-solving and perform more complex research and analysis with minimal guidance, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external parties, including business partners and vendors, to resolve issues and support efficient cash processing.
  • Provide input and recommendations regarding procedural enhancements or required changes on an as-needed basis to improve accuracy, efficiency, and controls.
  • Train and collaborate with peers on an as-needed basis, mentoring less experienced staff and assisting with questions to promote knowledge sharing and consistency.
  • Adhere to established corporate risk policies, procedures, and control standards to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and professionalism while reflecting the M&T Bank brand and values.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit requirements and remediation actions.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in financial field,

OR in lieu of a higher education degree,

 4 years of relevant work experience

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $22.61 - $37.67 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
