The Commercial Closer II complete various tasks prior to closing and funding commercial transactions including obtaining and/or reviewing required due diligence, preparing and/or reviewing commercial loan documents including disbursement instructions, and ensuring all required closing conditions have been met.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- • Collaborates with lenders, outside counsel, Credit, Compliance, and others to facilitate closings for moderately complex Commercial products including SBA guaranteed loans, Equipment Finance products, Food and Agribusiness, and Asset-Based lending, and authorizes the lender to close loans after confirming all pre-closing requirements have been met.
- Obtains and/or reviews all required pre-closing due diligence items.
- Advises as to any financial and covenant tracking to be set up after loan closing, and may assist in confirming collateral is properly perfected at or immediately following loan funding.
- Inputs and/or verifies the accuracy of entity, collateral, covenant, and other loan terms in origination system and confirms all conform to the Credit Approval and reflect properly in the closing document package.
- Reviews document packages received from counsel to ensure all terms contained therein reflect those contained in the Credit Approval for attorney prepared closing documents
- Accountable for meeting closing deadlines while ensuring that all documentation is accurate & complete and is committed to delivering a quality and timely closing experience to our customers.
- Following established guidelines, determines documents executed at closing match those approved in the pre-closing review and independently verifies all conditions of closing have been met prior to approving the release of funds to the borrower.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 2 years prior experience with complex Commercial Lending Business Products.
- At least 2 years prior experience with Commercial Loan core or origination systems and document drafting software
- Proficient with computer software including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, web browsers and video conferencing systems.
- Proficient with standard office phone systems, including voicemail, call forwarding, conference calling, etc.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal documents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in corresponding with lenders and legal counsel.
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Ability to successfully manage competing priorities with a positive, professional attitude in a high volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to adapt to frequent policy/process changes including departmental testing efforts following system/process updates.
- Ability to learn quickly as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to collaborate and achieve success as part of a team.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Familiarity with nCino/Salesforce, CSI, Info Access, Collateral 360, CT Lien
- 4 years experience with commercial loan origination, approval, documentation or retention systems
- Familiarity with Regulatory requirements for Commercial Lending Products and all collateral types
- Proficient in technical writing in order to aid in process/procedures/job aid development.
Level of Complexity and Scope
- Moderately complex analysis and interpretation of legal documents, regulations and due diligence requirements as they relate to commercial lending
- Complex loans may represent deals within Commercial & Industrial, Food and Agibusiness, Asset Based Lending, Equipment Finance, secured by various types of collateral with complex borrowing entity structures. The review will ensure that the documentation is accurate & complete to memorialize the transaction and perfect the collateral.
Degree of Independence and Decision-Making
- Works with limited supervision and follows established guidelines.
- Ability to ascertain sufficiency of documentation/conditions reviewed to meet requirements of credit approval and Credit Policy/Standards.
- Receives guidance from more senior level Closers, Team Leads, and Managers
- Uses subject matter expertise to advise others
