JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Penn State Abington’s Division of Social Sciences, Business, and Education invites applications for a part-time English Language Development (ELD) Practicum Instructor position, beginning in January 2026. This is a one-semester appointment.
Mentor a cohort of teacher candidates pursuing ESL certification.
Lead a one-hour weekly seminar at a school building.
Support teacher candidates in their practice through mentoring, reflection, and guidance.
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and ESL Program Specialist Certification (or equivalent).
Minimum of three years of professional experience working with English learners in a linguistically and culturally diverse public school setting.
Demonstrated success in teaching English learners at the elementary level in diverse contexts.
Strong ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Experience leading professional development for in-service teachers (preferred).
