Job Description
Summary:
The Lab Management Services Leader provides strategic and operational leadership for Lab Management Services supporting customer operations at the Upper Providence and Upper Merion, Pennsylvania sites. This role is responsible for driving service strategy, improving operational processes, and delivering measurable impact to customer satisfaction and service performance.
In partnership with the Global Lab Readiness Lead, the onsite PerkinElmer OneSource team, and critical customer stakeholders, this leader ensures alignment across teams to achieve KPIs, deliver operational excellence, and strengthen the overall customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of Lab Managers who oversee lab technician teams responsible for maintaining laboratory readiness and operational support for scientists.
Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development to direct reports to ensure high performance and strong team engagement.
Make recommendations related to hiring, promotions, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and positive work environment across all lab support teams.
Oversee daily lab support operations to ensure laboratories remain fully prepared, stocked, compliant, and operationally ready for scientific use.
Establish clear priorities and maintain organized workflows across multiple sites and teams.
Ensure resources, staffing, and assets are effectively utilized to meet operational demands and service expectations.
Serve as a key partner to customer stakeholders to ensure lab services consistently meet operational needs and support scientific productivity.
Build strong relationships with site leadership, scientists, and cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless lab user experience.
Ensure customer concerns and service requests are addressed efficiently and effectively.
Develop and implement strategies to improve lab service delivery, operational efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and implement best practices that improve team performance and service outcomes.
Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
Partner with internal teams and site stakeholders to align service delivery with broader organizational and customer objectives.
Facilitate communication across teams to ensure coordinated support for laboratory operations.
Ensure all lab support operations follow health, safety, environmental, and security standards.
Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in applied science, biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, information technology, electronics or related discipline including military experience. Business or management degree also meets criteria plus minimum of 2 years of experience in laboratory operations, lab services, scientific support services or related operational environments and 1+ years of leadership experience, including managing supervisors or managers. OR
Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory operations, lab services, scientific support services or related operational environments and 3+ years of leadership experience, including managing supervisors or managers.
Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in a laboratory operations, lab services, or scientific support environments.
Experience leading a large operational team (30+) in a complex or multi-site environment.
Experience supporting research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences laboratories.
Familiarity with EHS, lab safety compliance, and laboratory operations standards.
Experience working directly with scientists or R&D organizations to support lab readiness and productivity.
Demonstrated success leading process improvement or operational excellence initiatives.
Working Environment:
Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste.
Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.
May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against hazards present in the laboratory environment.
The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $75,000 to $90,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
