The Position

Packer Palletizer Operator

Job Summary

  • Comply with all Imerys, MSHA and Equipment Mfg. Policies, Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation. (Preshift) Check all fluids, fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil etc., tires, steering, brakes etc.   Also completes the Daily Work Place Exam.

  • Ensure the customer orders are responded to in a timely, efficient and professional manner.  

  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment handling; confer with supervisor to determine sorting and transfer procedures, arrangement of packages on pallets and destinations of loaded pallets.

  • Manipulate controls/conveyors and adjust equipment speeds/timing and material flow.  Observe operations and monitor in order to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions during packaging.

  • Move freight, stock and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles by hand and other equipment.

  • Mark and label containers, container tags, or products using marking tools.

  • Measure, weigh and count products and materials.

  • Examine and inspect containers, materials and products to ensure packing specifications are met.

  • Record product, packaging and order information on specified forms and records.

  • Mechanical – Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance.

  • Can anticipate, recognize and respond quickly to unexpected variations.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Control Precision – The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.

  • Understanding of logistics.

  • Any other job duties assigned by management.
