Provides administrative and clerical support to a funeral home, cemetery, crematory or a combination of these facilities. Duties include greeting the public and providing general information on services offered in a polite manner with a goal to meet and exceed customer expectations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and process death certificates accurately and on time
- Support multiple mortuaries across the market, including coverage when other DC Clerks are on vacation
- Work directly with doctors’ offices daily to obtain required medical information and secure physician signatures
- Handle all information with discretion and confidentiality
- Track the progress of each death certificate and provide real-time updates to location management and arrangers
- Collaborate with location management, funeral arrangers, and support staff to gather information for death certificates
- Experienced in working with Excel and Google Docs
- Responsible for filing and amending records for multiple locations and for ordering death certificates
- Perform other duties as assigned by market management
- Bilingual skills preferred
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5 years EDRS (Electronic Death Registration System) experience
- Strong technical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across locations
- Professional discretion in all communications
- Advanced user in HMIS and Compass software proficiency
- Valid driver license with reliable transportation
Education
- High School or equivalent
Experience
- 1 - 2 years of experience in an office clerical or customer service capacity required
- Experience working in a customer-focused and fast-paced professional environment required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of office equipment including computers, calculators, copiers, printers, and fax machines at a level consistent with experience
- MS Office Suite experience preferred
- Basic mathematics skills required
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
- High level of compassion and integrity
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Compensation:
Salary: $18.00/hr.- $22.00/hr.
