ROLE TITLE: Director, Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Instructor (Temporary)
POSITION REPORTS TO: Jackie Gantzer, Senior Managing Director (SMD), Program Impact & Strategy

LOCATION: Boston, Massachusetts
WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are looking for an experienced and DESE-approved SEI instructor to serve as the Director, Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Instructor. In this role, you will teach one to two 30-35 student sections of the DESE-approved SEI course to our 2026 corps members in the summer of 2026. You will be responsible for leading up to two virtual sections of the course per week and following up with corps members as needed. You will be responsible for grading assignments in accordance with DESE rubrics. The goal is to ensure that 100% of our 2026 corps members earn their Sheltered English Immersion endorsement at the end of the course. The courses will meet weekly from July 8 to September 23, with additional time for capstone presentations.

You will sit on the Teach For America Massachusetts regional team and work closely with the Managing Director, Learning & Development Design and Training, and SMD, Program Strategy & Impact. In addition, you will collaborate with the MA Managing Directors of Leadership Development (MDLDs) who support our corps members. The goal of these teams is to ensure our 2026 corps members are committed, in community, and confident for their first day of school.
Teach For America Massachusetts launched our teaching corps in 2009 and has since grown into a diverse community of over 200 corps members and 2,600 alumni working each day on behalf of children. We work to achieve systems-level change in our five partner cities: Boston, Chelsea, Lawrence, Fall River, and Springfield. Our team operates with nuance and agility as we execute work across the Commonwealth and partner closely with our Program & Development Hubs, alongside other regions and central teams.
YOUR COMPENSATION
The Director, SEI Instructor role is compensated $44.52 per hour throughout the entire commitment, with an estimated time commitment of 130-150 hours per SEI section.
