Job Description:

The Personal Loan Officer prospects, establishes, and maintains relationships with customers by providing personal lending product and service expertise to assist customers in the decision-making process, while staying within established lending limits and ensuring loan quality and deposit growth for the Bank.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Interview customers to obtain financial history.  Analyze information and sells customers on the products and services that best meet their needs.  

  • Prepare personal lending loan applications completely, accurately and in compliance with Federal guidelines and the Bank’s policies and procedures.

  • Approve loans within approval limits, and if appropriate, forwards higher values for approval.

  • Investigate and close all approved loans in accordance with Federal guidelines and the Bank’s policies and procedures.

  • Consistently inform and sell customers on credit life and disability insurance and GAP insurance.

  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding all aspects of personal loans.

  • Maintain awareness of all current policies and procedures pertaining to personal loans and all interrelated services and functions.

  • Meet established personal production goals and assist in the achievement of all the Bank’s annual sales goals.

  • Expected to assist in securing liens on mortgages, titles and UCCs.

  • Build, seize, and recognize relationship building opportunities with all areas of the bank, including but not limited to deposit, mortgage, business banking, financial planning, and insurance.

  • Provide a “Wow” customer service experience for team members and customers.

  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with team members, leaders, customers, and vendors.

  • Prompt and reliable attendance is essential in order to provide expected levels of service.

  • Must comply with all Gate City Bank policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

  • Must be detailed-oriented and maintain high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree; 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Interpret and use data for decision making.
