A Brief Overview
The Pulmonary Lab Respiratory Therapist (RT) is responsible for performing diagnostic pulmonary procedures. The RT is responsible for assisting physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures and other procedures related to the pulmonary system. The RT will administer aerosolized medications to patients and perform POCT ABG sticks and specimen analysis. This position will prepare and process tissue and bodily fluids for specimen analysis. This position will perform respiratory therapy procedures and treatments to inpatients and outpatients.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Required
- Associate's Degree Graduate of Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) Program Preferred

Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist - NBRC Must be credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Required
- Respiratory Therapist - KSBHA Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts. Required
- Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire. Required
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Preferred
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation within 90 days of hire. Required
What you will do
- Performs pulmonary function testing, includes preparation of equipment, assessment and monitoring of patient, documentation and completing patient charges.
- Performs cleaning of equipment, including high level disinfectant.
- Assists physician with bronchoscopy procedures, including preparation and processing of tissue and bodily fluid samples for analysis.
- Monitors patient’s physiological response to procedures and treatments.
- Provides outpatient respiratory procedures when ordered.
- Documents in the patient electronic medical record and completed patient charges.
- Administers medications to assess bronchial provocation response.
- Performs respiratory procedures and treatments to inpatients and outpatients.
- Performs basic life support measures.
- Performs tests and procedures to assess oxygen needs.
- Performs acquisition and analysis of arterial blood samples.
