GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Trailer Technician will perform all aspects of repair to HD trailers including electrical repairs, brake jobs, welding, cutting with a torch and repairing and replacing parts on the chassis using standard repair tools. They will also replace Trailer body components as needed such as repairing or replacing trailer doors and floors of various material, dolly legs, side panel replacement, roof repair or replacement, and minor hydraulic repairs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnoses, repairs, builds and rebuilds all parts of trailer equipment
  • Performs Maintenance, Troubleshoots and inspects equipment
  • Test equipment for proper operations
  • Perform repair or replacement of brake components, wheel end repairs, electrical repairs, body repairs, frame work
  • Welding and Fabrication as needed within the scope of the repair process
  • Accurately identifies, documents and recommends corrective action for any safety or DOT issues present on the trailer in accordance with company policy
  • Other job duties, as assigned

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • 2+ years experience with 53' Dry Vans, Reefers, flatbeds, lowboys, tankers, and/or specialty application OTR trailers
  • High School Diploma
  • Vocational certificate or work experience 

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Carpentry fabrication and welding preferred
  • Air Brake Certified

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Must provide hand tools, air tools and toolbox
  • Maintain perfect safety record
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Pass background and drug test
