Job Summary:

Semtech Corporation is seeking a motivated and curious to join our AI Transformation & Product Security team for Summer 2026. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity within a global semiconductor company. You will work alongside experienced engineers and security professionals on meaningful projects that directly support Semtech's AI transformation initiatives and product security strategies.

Responsibilities:

AI Research & Tool Evaluation (25%)

  • Research, evaluate, and document AI tools and technologies being considered for enterprise-wide adoption across Semtech's business functions

  • Conduct research on emerging AI trends relevant to the semiconductor industry and summarize findings for the team

  • Assist with testing and evaluating AI-powered productivity tools being piloted across the organization

AI Workflow & Automation Support (25%)

  • Support the development and testing of AI-powered workflows and automation pipelines to improve internal operational efficiency

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of AI governance frameworks, responsible AI usage policies, and best practice documentation

Product Security Support (20%)

  • Contribute to product security assessments by assisting with vulnerability research, threat modeling documentation, and security analysis of Semtech's semiconductor products and embedded systems

  • Support documentation of security best practices and assist with security awareness initiatives across the organization

Data Analysis & Reporting (20%)

  • Help maintain and improve internal data dashboards and reporting tools that track AI transformation progress and security metrics

  • Perform data gathering, organization, and basic analysis using Excel, Python, SQL, or Tableau

Cross-functional Collaboration (10%)

  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute ideas for improving AI integration across engineering, HR, finance, and operations

  • Present research findings and project updates to team members and stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program, completing your first year (Sophomore standing) by Summer 2026

  • Preferred majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field

  • Foundational programming experience in Python and/or Java

  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and data analysis

  • Familiarity with data tools such as Excel, SQL, or Tableau is a plus

  • Exposure to cybersecurity concepts (network security, encryption, vulnerability assessment) is a plus

  • Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar is a plus

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and follows through on assignments

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is USD $26/hr - $36/hr.  There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
