Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Automation Specialist will support manufacturing operations by working with CNC machines, automation systems, and manufacturing software to ensure smooth and efficient production. This entry-to-mid-level role is well-suited for candidates with technical training or hands-on experience, a basic understanding of databases and programming, and an interest in expanding their skills in automation, robotics, and manufacturing technology. The position provides strong opportunities for learning, career growth, and exposure to advanced systems within a collaborative team environment.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with troubleshooting and maintaining automated equipment, CNC machines, and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Write and adjust CNC programs as needed to support production.
  • Query and analyze data using SQL and other database tools.
  • Support and maintain Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to improve processes and equipment reliability.
  • Read, interpret, and make minor edits to CAD files and schematics.
  • Provide basic support for robotics and automation systems on the shop floor.
  • Document work performed and update system records.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Technical training or associate’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Basic understanding of SQL databases and how to query information.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming and CAD software.
  • Understanding of PLC logic systems and basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience working with robots in a manufacturing setting.
  • Exposure to MES or SCADA systems.
  • Experience supporting automated equipment in a production environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged standing, stooping, walking.
  • Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling weight up to 50 Lbs.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule, including overtime.
