Senior Administrative Director, Community Hematology/Oncology

This senior leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of community hematology and oncology care across a growing, highly integrated network. The Senior Administrative Director provides operational oversight and strategic leadership across multiple community sites while advancing initiatives that strengthen connections between academic and community-based care, including key site‑of‑care and network integration projects.

The portfolio spans established and expanding locations across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and island communities, with additional growth anticipated as partnerships evolve. The role plays a critical part in supporting ongoing expansion, guiding new facility development, and sustaining strong operational performance across existing sites. Equally important, this leader will provide continuity, mentorship, and strategic direction to a high‑performing team during a period of transition.


 

Job Summary

Summary

Works collaboratively with departmental and organizational leadership to manage the daily operations of the department or division, ensuring the smooth delivery of healthcare services and overseeing key administrative functions, including human resources, finance, compliance, facilities, and patient services. Provides strategic and operational oversight for a diverse portfolio encompassing education, health equity, faculty affairs, data and analytics, quality and safety, and integration initiatives. Partners closely with the Vice President and other organizational leaders to drive departmental goals, cultivate a culture of excellence, and ensure the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care.

Essential Functions

-Under the organizational and Department leadership, helps establish overall vision, mission, direction, goals and objectives. Directs the strategic planning process, establishes and achieves long-range goals, and ensures the implementation of strategic business plans.

-Leads the management team and staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment. Oversees hiring, training, and retention, ensuring adequate staffing levels.

-Lead the department's patient experience strategy, aligning with MGB and system-wide initiatives and fostering a culture of patient-centered care.

-Engages with senior leadership to provide financial forecasting, long-term planning, and strategic recommendations. Establishes and achieves financial goals and measures and ensures on-going financial performance.

-Monitors spending trends and identifies opportunities for cost optimization and process improvements. Monitors and evaluates existing services and ensures the development of programs and services to respond to market.

-Develops and manages programmatic initiatives for care improvement, cost reduction, and network development. Oversees patient services and care delivery, ensuring positive patient experience.

-Ensures compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards. Continually assesses and improves the efficiency of systems and processes.


 

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree required

Master's Degree preferred

Experience
8-10+ years progressive leadership in a healthcare setting required

5-7 years progressive leadership in academic medical center preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and initiatives.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively.
- Ability to Lead effectively and build team skills. Ability to delegate and effectively supervise and plan for the timely and successful completion of objectives.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills to manage complex projects and initiatives.
- Proficiency in financial systems and data analytics and process improvement tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations, financial management, and patient care quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and to accept responsibility for complex and sensitive decision-making.
