The Biorepository Coordinator is responsible for all phases of the data collection and consenting factors for the Biorepository, ensuring compliance to all regulatory regulations. The Biorepository Coordinator manages and maintains the Informed Consent Form (ICF) procedure and database that tracks patient selections for the collection, scope of use and retention period of human biological samples (HBS) collected in the HMH Biorepository (BioR). The Biorepository Coordinator oversees all aspects of sample acquisition and processing at the BioR site. The position requires working in close partnership with primary care providers, clinical researchers and clinical research associates. This role reports directly to the site Mgr, Biorepository.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Biorepository Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Maintains detailed bio inventory in a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database ensuring up to date, complete and accurate subject registration, sample inventories, tracking of biospecimens and release of specimens to researchers.
  • Participates in the consenting process up to and including consenting patients for all Biorepository related studies across the Cancer Center and Medical Center as required.
  • Responsible for working with primary care providers, research data coordinators and research nurse coordinators in sample acquisition.
  • Schedules and coordinates specimen acquisition across departments and communicates with and oversees Biorepository Technicians to assure timely specimen delivery and processing precisian.
  • Serves as on site Biorepository Honest Broker, being the liaison between the researcher, identifiable specimen and patient information.
  • Work effectively with internal colleagues, investigators and collaborators to fulfill sample (e.g. tumor, blood, derivatives, etc.) shipment requests for external analyses.
  • Responsible for all data and source documentation, adverse event reporting, and maintenance of complete regulatory files.
  • Participate in sample management process improvement projects.
  • Support Biorepository needs from biological specimen collection through effective tactical interactions with clinical teams, investigators, clinical sites, network biorepository sites, central biorepository lab and external collaborators.
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports for the Biorepository Management and Cancer Center Heads.
  • Management of required IRB submissions such as modifications, continuations, adverse events etc, assuring protocol compliance for Phase I, II, III, IV of the Biorepository according to GCP.
  • Responsible for orientation and training of new Biorepository Coordinators and ancillary Cancer Center and or Medical center Staff as relates to Tumor Bank acquisition of samples.
  • Meets with FDA auditors and monitor sponsors as required.
  • Works on special projects for the Biorepository.
  • May be required to draw blood for sample collection and will be required to receive phlebotomy education and training through HMH RN Education program.
  • Follow GCP/GLP/ICH guidelines and regulatory standards for HBS management, and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Adheres to the Medical Center's organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Reports directly to the site Manager of the Biorepository.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in the sciences.
  • Minimum 4 years of basic science lab experience.
  • Computer/analytical skills.
  • In depth knowledge of protocol management and informed consent.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's degree or registered nurse with current license to practice and at least 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of basic science lab work experience or 2 year clinical trials research experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Society of Clinical Research Associates Certification within 30 months of entering position.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • SoCRA Certification at time of hire.

Starting Minimum Rate

Starting at $82,513.60 Annually

Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
