Background Check Information
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
JOB SUMMARY
Plans maintenance programs, directs supervisors, prioritizes projects and tasks, and administers fiscal management in assigned service areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a trade or technical school with five (5) years of Construction and Maintenance experience. Education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage and prepare the park operations section maintenance program, to identify service goals and objectives. Directing subordinate maintenance supervisors in planning, implementing and evaluating maintenance programs and park development projects.
- Plan and prioritize projects and tasks, establish schedules, coordinating staff, equipment and resources efficiently and effectively.
- Apply professional knowledge and judgment, while providing leadership in facility maintenance management, capital improvements and capital project implementation.
- Direct and develop cooperative working relationships with other county agencies serviced by Park Operations.
- Establish and enforce standards and operational policies and procedures, to ensure acceptable performance and achievement of established goals and objectives.
- Identify maintenance programs within the assigned service area, establishing goals and objectives and implement means for achieving them. Review and evaluate maintenance programs for achieving maximum program effectiveness. Adjust/modify programs based on surveys, feedback, and substantive discussion
- Encourage and assist supervisors to broaden their understanding and improve their ability to formulate, prepare and implement planning functions by implementing and enforcing maintenance program standards.
- Manage, supervise and coordinate use of County facilities and grounds in assigned service area. Resolve maintenance problems, making detailed recommendations for improvement.
- Enforce standards for safety and cleanliness, ensuring parks and facilities are clean, safe and free of hazard and health risks. Assuring assigned facilities, grounds and equipment are properly cared for, enforcing compliance with maintenance safety standards.
- Coordinate maintenance projects with other agencies and organizations for scheduling and completion of repair activities. Prepare maintenance and repair information for computerized cost and activity tracking system.
- Respond to facility security emergencies.
- Prepare an annual budget and expenditure plan for maintenance programs within the assigned service area. Assist Director in preparing the annual budget, by projecting man power, equipment needed and other budgetary issues.
- Supervise budget preparation and monitoring functions of assigned activities and line items, reviewing, organizing and interpreting annual maintenance cost reports for the assigned service area.
- Manage and review purchase requests and journal vouchers for assigned service area, authorizing subordinate level budget expenditures, making appropriate budgetary adjustments, complying with standard procedures regarding record management.
- Assign and evaluate employee task performance through an assessment of accountability to ensure performance standards and assigned objectives are being met. Schedule and monitor to assure adequate and efficient staffing levels, prepare performance evaluations, assign individual goals and objectives, evaluate eligibility for advancement or administer disciplinary measures.
- Identify training needs and training opportunities for employees to enhance and strengthen job skills and knowledge. Provide commercial driver's license training, investigate accidents in accordance with County policies and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions, dirt, dust, heat, cold, chemicals, smoke, and/or loud noises.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION
May need to work holidays, nights and weekends as needed. On call 24-hours.
