Responsibilities

  • The Charge Nurse—Emergency Department has the leadership skills, authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process.
  • They are an extension of the leadership team (director, manager, nursing supervisor, clinical preceptor, and/or house supervisor) and must conduct themselves as such.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • An associate’s degree in nursing required. 

     

  • At least 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience

     

  • Licensed as an RN in the State of New Jersey

  • Maintain ACLS and PALS
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
