Overview

The Automation Technician will support East Texas Operations by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automation, PLC, communication, and I&E equipment. This role requires strong hands-on field experience, solid troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely and independently in a fast-paced oil and gas environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Automation & I&E equipment (PLC components, transmitters, wireless devices, HMIs, comms equipment).

  • Utilize SCADA systems for daily monitoring of operations and equipment performance.

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair on electrical circuits and control components.

  • Execute Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures safely and accurately.

  • Support daily operations and assist with additional duties as needed.

  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across the field team.

  • Work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.

  • Participate in call-out rotation (nights, weekends, holidays) once trained.

  • Work in extreme outdoor environments and H2S conditions while using proper PPE/SCBA.

  • Work extended hours when required.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 yrs. of Oil and Gas Automation experience required. 
  • Strong ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair:Allen Bradley PLCs (Micro 800 series / Connected Components Workbench)

    ABB TotalFlow and Fisher ROC
  • Knowledge of communication equipment: Freewave, XetaWave, RedLion, ABB, GE MDS.
  • Must be willing to meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR check, and fit for duty/agility test.
