Overview

The Chemical Dependency Counselor is responsible for providing confidential addictions

counseling, education and support to clients in the Sub Acute Detoxification program.

 

This position pays $21.00/hr

Responsibilities

  • Complete client intake, assessment and orientation within 48 hrs.
  • Coordinate the admission of appropriate clients to the Sub Acute Detoxification program.
  • Coordinate the admission of appropriate clients to the Intensive Outpatient program and other treatment facilities as needed.
  • Facilitate client participation in Sub Acute Detoxification counseling sessions.
  • Provide emotional and spiritual support for clients in the Sub Acute Detoxification program.
  • Facilitate client access to social, medical, educational and other support services.
  • Foster client participation in peer support and self-help services AA/CA/NA.
    • Conduct group sessions in the Intensive Outpatient program as needed.
    • Complete Sub Acute Detoxification and/or Intensive Outpatient client assessment, SOQIC within 48 hours of admission.
    • Collaborate with clients to develop an individual treatment plan, based on the assessment, with measurable goals and objectives – to be completed during the assessment (90 – 120 minutes).
    • Complete client progress notes and case management notes daily for each assigned client.
    • Coordinate discharge and after care services, particularly linkages to next level of care . . . AOD treatment program (30 minutes)
    • Document in a timely and accurate manner all services delivered to assigned clients at the time of their discharge.
    • Close client file within 48 hours of discharge.
    • Collect urine specimens and perform urine screenings for clients upon admission.
    • Collaborate with treatment facilities.
    • Attend in-house and community trainings to maintain licensure.
    • Other duties as requested by the program manager

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of high school diploma. Completion of college coursework in Social Work or Human Services at an accredited college or university preferred.
    • Training from ODADAS certified seminars in chemical dependency and related fields.
    • Certified by The Ohio Department of Alcohol Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS) as a chemical dependency counselor (CDCA or higher).
    • Must be able to routinely lift and carry boxes weighing 50 pounds or more.
    • Must be able to use stairs, when necessary, for building evacuations, drills or during elevator maintenance.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Effective in dealing with the public and/or dealing with intoxicated individuals.
    • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
