Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Patient Care Transporter is responsible for: transporting patients between departments within the hospital, assisting with moving and lifting patients on the Care Units, assisting Care Units throughout the facility in transportation of deceased patients to the morgue, transporting equipment such as wheelchairs and gurneys between departments, performing surgical skin preps for patients having cardiac surgery, and performing 12 lead electrocardiograms.

Job Requirements

  • One (1) year of related healthcare experience preferred, 12 Lead EKG experience
  • Substantial knowledge of the organization of an acute care hospital; proper safety practices including infection control, body mechanics and hazardous materials; medical terminology; safe transportation and operation of oxygen tanks and regulators.
  • Ability to take instruction and follow established policy and procedure; establish and maintain a satisfactory cooperative working relationship with coworkers and Supervisors within the department and region.
  • Act courteously and with tact in dealing with others; organize work assignments, adjusting and prioritizing calls using priority list.
  • Work effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions; make sound decisions with minimal supervision; respond calmly and correctly to emergency situations; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
