Overview

 

The Design Supervisor will be the first-line supervisor for approximately 10 designers and draftsmen and will perform all the functions normally assigned to a first line supervisor. The supervisor will ensure that the assigned work is prioritized and then accurately completed within the allocated budget and schedule.  Applicant will also be responsible for his/her group’s critical skills development and retention.  The supervisor must be a representative for EB at customer meetings, i.e., Drawing Status Meetings, Design Review Meetings, etc. The supervisor will support all Total Product Quality (TPQ) initiatives, including review of the TPQ matrix and proactive initiatives of related Process Improvements.  Applicant must be able to direct and motivate personnel to achieve technical excellence and employee skills.

 

Responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Assigning and prioritizing work
  • Safety, technical quality, cost and schedule performance of the group
  • Approval of design products in support of initial issue and change work.
  • Fostering a collaborative, hands-on, proactive, and technically rigorous approach to design and problem solving in a dynamic and time-sensitive environment
  • Supporting employee professional development through IDP’s and Performance reviews
  • Sustainment of critical skills and knowledge.

Skills

  • Must have a good working knowledge of the corporation’s design computer systems, design standards/processes.
  • Must have ability to interpret/follow Artemis, Skyline, and scheduling of products.
  • Must be familiar with Disclosures/Drawings, technical manuals, military specifications and other support documents
  • Demonstrated effective interaction with management is required.
  • Applicant must be familiar with drawing requirements, technical manuals, military specifications and other documents such as SUBSAFE, DSS-SOC, welding requirements and ANSI-standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership abilities
  • Ability to solve technical problems and make decisions quickly
  • Ability to work well with other organizations and all levels of management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of both NX / Team Center and CATIA platforms
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Desktop, JCALS, and ARTEMIS
  • Must be familiar with Disclosures/Drawings, technical manuals, military specifications and other support documents.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 5 years of design or engineering experience is required
  • Must have held held a design position of chargeman, working leader, Supervisor, MATL or equivalent engineering leadership role
  • Current active DoD Secret security clearance is required

Preferred:

  • A.S. degree or greater in related field or ten years of design experience is preferred.
  • Experience with NX / TC process 
  • Experience with CATIA CDM
  • Experience with JCALS, MRPII, 3G Mainframe, ELCADD
  • Working knowledge of MDA Contract
