Get to Know Your Team: 

  • UT Health East Texas is comprised of 10 hospitals, more than 90 clinics, nearly 7,500 employees and over 1,000 licensed inpatient beds. We provide healthcare services through our hospitals, clinics, Level 1 trauma facility, air emergency fleet and EMS service.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for emergency patient transfer coordination and communications for the UT Health East Texas System.
  • Coordinators will work with Emergency Department, EMS, AirOne, Medical Staff, and any referring hospitals to accomplish a rapid and efficient transfer.
  • This entails effective communication with the Medical Staff and all ancillary Emergency Service Staff in promoting safe and appropriate transfer acceptance and delivery.
  • Personnel will coordinate Rapid Response Code Activations, including Trauma, STEMI, Code Stroke, and the Radiology Team.
  • Personnel will also coordinate for Emergency Safety and activate for Disaster Preparedness in compliance with the Safety Policy and Procedure.
  • Personnel will maintain and verify the Physician On-Call Active listing for referral and Hospital distribution.
  • Personnel will understand and support the UT Health East Texas Mission, Vision, and Values and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Some overtime and call-back may be required.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Associate or Bachelors of Nursing
  • Current TX RN License
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 1-2 years in emergency or critical care hospital setting
  • 1-2 years previous EMS and/or communications experience
