These terms govern your use of The Best Job Board (“TBJB”, “we”, “us”) — the website at thebestjobboard.com, the JSON HTTP API at /api/v2/*, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint at /api/v2/mcp. By creating an account, generating an MCP token, or accessing the site or API in any other way, you agree to these terms.
1. Permitted use
TBJB is a search and discovery service for U.S. job listings. You may use the website, API, and MCP server to:
- Search and review job listings for your own job hunt.
- Apply to jobs through their respective employer apply links.
- Connect AI agents (Claude, Cursor, etc.) you control to assist with your own job search.
- Refer friends or audiences to TBJB through the influencer referral program at /referrals.
2. Prohibited use of the API, MCP, and scraped data
Without our prior written permission, you may NOT:
- Bulk-extract listings, company records, or any other data from the website or API — whether by scraping, by paginating any endpoint exhaustively, by issuing automated calls beyond what a single person's search needs, or by aggregating across multiple tokens or accounts.
- Redistribute, resell, or republish data obtained from TBJB on a different website, in a different app, or in a derivative dataset. Job listings on TBJB originate from corporate career sites and are subject to those sites' own terms; redistribution by us to you does not grant you redistribution rights to anyone else.
- Use TBJB data to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine-learning models intended for resale or for use in any competing job-search, recruiter, or staffing product.
- Build or feed any product that competes with TBJB using data obtained from us — including but not limited to job aggregators, recruiter dashboards, staffing-firm tooling, or alternative job-search interfaces.
- Evade rate limits or abuse detection.This includes rotating tokens, distributing requests across multiple accounts, or otherwise circumventing the per-token daily call limit (currently 1,000 calls/day per token).
- Share, resell, or transfer your MCP token to any third party. Tokens authenticate as you; we will treat all usage of a token as your action.
We reserve the right to revoke any MCP token, suspend any account, and pursue legal remedies (including DMCA takedowns, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act claims where applicable, and breach-of-contract damages) when we detect or reasonably believe these prohibitions are being violated.
3. Automated and agentic access
MCP tokens are explicitly intended for AI agents acting on behalf of an individual end user (e.g., your Claude Desktop or Cursor session). Programmatic access via the API or MCP is subject to:
- A default daily call cap of 1,000 calls per token, sufficient for any genuine end-user job-hunt session and insufficient for enumeration of the index.
- Query-shape monitoring that automatically revokes tokens whose call pattern matches enumeration heuristics (e.g., many filter-less search calls or unusually deep pagination).
- Your obligation to respect the recency paywall: free-tier accounts receive listings 7+ days old; subscriber-tier accounts receive day-0 listings. You may not attempt to bypass this paywall, and you may not redistribute day-0 listings obtained via a subscriber token.
If you have a legitimate B2B use case (recruiter platform, staffing tooling, internal HR analytics) that requires higher limits or different terms, email support@thebestjobboard.com to discuss a commercial license. We're happy to talk; we're not happy to be silently scraped.
4. Subscriptions and refunds
The $8/month subscription auto-renews until canceled. You may cancel any time from your subscriptions dashboard; your access continues through the end of the paid period and does not renew. New subscribers get a 14-day free trial; canceling during the trial avoids any charge. We do not issue retroactive refunds for unused time on a paid period.
5. Account integrity
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials (Firebase login) and MCP tokens secure. If you suspect a token has leaked, revoke it from /dashboard/mcp and generate a replacement.
6. Source data and accuracy
Job listings are aggregated from public corporate career sites. We make a best effort to keep them fresh (daily re-scrape, soft-archive of stale listings) but do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or that any listing is currently accepting applications. Always verify with the employer before relying on a listing.
7. Privacy
We log standard request metadata (account id, token id, timestamp, query parameters) for product analytics, abuse detection, and rate-limit enforcement. We do not share individual user query data with employers or third parties except as required by law. Aggregate, de-identified data may be used to publish reports such as the analyses at /insights.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced via the email associated with your account; continued use of TBJB after a notice constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
