ABOUT THE ROLE
The Shop Sales Associate (Floater) performs daily front-of-house functions necessary to achieve the sales goals of the Retail Operations Department at the High Museum of Art. This role will be required to perform duties at both the main shop and upcoming pop-up shop locations. This position is ideal for individuals seeking part-time hours in a creative, customer service- driven environment.
WORK SCHEDULE
• Friday night availability mandatory
• 8–16 hours per week
• Weekend availability required
• Shifts may include opening/closing, evenings, extended hours, special events, and peak holiday periods
• Anticipated start date: May 18, 2026
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Guest Service & Sales – 30%
• Contribute to daily sales goals through excellent customer service and product knowledge.
• Engage and assist guests throughout the shopping experience—from entry to checkout—with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
• Actively promote Museum membership by encouraging guests to become Members.
• Consistently solicit Round-Up donations after each purchase.
Operations & Transactions – 30%
• Execute accurate sales transactions using the Shopify POS System.
• Perform daily opening and closing functions, including cleaning tasks and handling change requests.
• Maintain compliance with departmental policies and practices.
• Assist with clerical and data entry tasks as needed.
Merchandising & Inventory – 20%
• Assist with merchandising, restocking, and organizing the sales floor and storage areas.
• Support the annual shop inventory process.
• Maintain product displays to ensure a visually appealing and guest-friendly environment.
Museum Knowledge & Engagement – 20%
• Maintain current knowledge of the Museum’s permanent collection, exhibitions, and public programs to provide informed guest interactions.
• Represent the Museum in a professional and welcoming manner.
• Other tasks as needed
WHAT WILL WE EXPECT OF YOU:
• Demonstrate flexibility with your schedule, with shifts occurring between 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM
• Provide exceptional customer service
• Work collaboratively with team members
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent and at least one year of retail experience
• Some knowledge of art history is a plus
Language Skills
• Strong reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Bilingual ability a plus
Mathematical Skills
• Strong math skills, with the ability to calculate rates, percentages, and balance a cash register
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to stand for 4–8 hour shifts
• Ability to occasionally lift and move items up to 50 pounds
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment
