Overview
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Assistant Manager, a Server provides exceptional personalized service and ensures all guest’s needs are met in a prompt and efficient manner. They must set priorities and simultaneously manage multiple tasks. A Server should be able to react to guest requests, challenges, and unusual situations in a skilled manner. They will have the ability to provide intuitive service ensuring VIP guests are consistently wowed. A Server will stay informed and know all hotel/casino facilities and services, special events and local attractions. They must be able to initiate and engage in conversation in a professional and friendly manner while maintaining confidentiality. He/she must present a professional appearance that guests and team members will find appealing and approachable.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred.
- Ability to read and write English required.
- Must have good communication skills and maintain friendly personable attitude at all times.
- Two years’ guest service experience in a family or formal dining environment.
- Casino Food & Beverage experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc):
- Must have valid Food Handlers Card, Liquor License, and IGC Badge when working.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Must have the ability to withstand noisy and smoke filled environments.
- Must be able to stand 50% of shift, walk 45% of shift, and sit 5% of shift.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position) - Greet each guest and provide superior guest service at for all COMPANY Food and Beverage operations. - Must maintain pleasant and courteous attitude. - Complete all opening and closing duties. - Assist bussers in the setting of tables with clean dishes, glasses, and flatware in accordance with approved guest service procedures. - Presents menu to guest, suggesting courses, appropriate drinks, and answering questions regarding food preparation. - Offer drinks and take food and beverage order. - Have basic knowledge of all house and call liquor. - Serves meals to patrons according to established rules or etiquette, working in a family or formal setting. - Check for quality after each course. - Refill all drinks when needed. - Maintain clean ashtrays. - Buss tables as needed. - Remove all dirty dishes and glassware from the guest’s tables during and after each course. - Totals bill, presents check, collects settlement, and takes payment to cashier. - Assist bussers in the clearing of tables and dirty dishes, glasses and flatware in accordance with approved guest service procedures. - Transport dish cart to and from service station/steward’s station. - Stock server stations with all necessary items. - Assist bussers in maintaining the general cleanliness all public areas, including carpeted and tiled floors, furniture, and waitress stations. - Re-supplying provisions on guest tables, all venue areas and waitress stations, including backup glasses, silverware, and dishes. - Adhering to sanitation standards as outlined by Indiana State Law and COMPANY. - Maximizing profit and guest satisfaction through effective costs controls. - Adhere to all three-star standards. - Work considerately with team members from all departments. - Check out with supervisor before leaving at the end of your shift. - Other departmental related duties and assignments as directed by management. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Attend seminars when needed.
