The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs.

 

We’re hiring an Assistant Retail Manager to Live. Work. Explore. in Death Valley National Park!

 

Job Summary:

As an Assistant Retail Manager, you'll assist in managing the daily operations of the retail department and will have employees reporting to you. You'll report to the Retail Manager.  The Assistant Retail Manager works with the Retail Manager and Retail Director to ensure accuracy and the adherence to The Oasis At Death Valley standards and makes sure that the employees are all working toward excellent customer care standards. Our mission is to provide legendary service to our guests visiting from all over the world, and your work is instrumental to our success.

 

The Details:Position Type: Full-time Year-round

Start Dates: As soon as possible on next available check in date (approximately three weeks)

Pay: $23.50/hrSchedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to demonstrate professional and courteous behavior with all guests and employees.
  • Work closely with the Retail Manager and the Director of Retail in the operation and management of stores.
  • Provides direct daily supervision of the Retail staff.
  • Work closely with Retail Supervisors to ensure all policies, procedures and objectives are adhered to and understood by staff.
  • Assists with all paperwork involved in the staffing, scheduling, and supervision of employees.
  • Work closely with the Accounting Department to ensure all cashiers follow accounting procedures.
  • Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed.
  • Assists with tracking and following up with all Guest Comment Reports.
  • Assists with annual reviews of Retail personnel.
  • Responsible for Inventory, Inventory control, and ordering
  • Ensure displays are properly maintained and merchandise is fully stocked and displayed in accordance with Retail Standards.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to all safety, risk management, loss prevention and environmental policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Three years supervisory experience in a high-volume retail store.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience in product display, product ordering, inventory control and loss prevention procedures.
  • Experience with Word and Excel software as well as computerized POS systems.
  • Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of employees and guests professionally and courteously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, customer service and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements include:

  • Physically able to work standing for eight hours, and must have the endurance to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. up to shoulder height.
  • Must be able to withstand working in extreme outdoor summer temperatures.
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, reach, and grasp
