Overview

$22.02 / hour

 

The Design Assistant will provide designs for the development of shows, special events, park graphics, and special decor; to assist Project Development with park projects; to provide and budget estimates of scenic, set dressing and prop cost; and to Art Direct and provide technical consultation to labor force in the proper implementation of these designs.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to show development projects and special events as appropriate and assigned, in the role of designer, art director, artist and/or general collaborator. Including hands on assistance when needed.
  • Provide special event development such as Halloween Haunt, as a designer, ensuring conceptual and operational integrity.
  • Maintain professionalism and productivity within show production departments. Assist and advise hourly staff on proper technique and procedures as needed.
  • Assist in proper documentation and record keeping of design projects, such as generating "as builts."
  • Maintain expenses within or below budget by assiting with the show elements purchasing process.
  • Look to implement ways to expand and maximize revenue opportunities in show production.
  • Attend scheduled production meetings to communicate design ideas and solve issues. Meet regularly with Production personel outside scheduled meeting times to provide further information and guidance.
  • Meet deadlines set by Manager, with proper and accurate drawings that communicate the design vision.
  • Provides guest service according to Six Flags standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Six Flags Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Meets Six Flags' attendance requirements as outlined in Six Flags attendance policies.
  • Adheres to Six Flags' Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Theatrical lighting, special effects, properties, audio and constuming terms, systems, organizations and structures.
  • Theme park experience preferred.
  • Efficient in Vectorworks, Painter, Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
