Job Summary:
Trail crew members are involved in evaluating horse trails, corrals, and facilities for safety issues and reporting deficiencies to management. Responsibilities include the care and maintenance of horses, mules, equipment, and tools, while adhering to company safety guidelines and ensuring environmentally friendly trail maintenance.

Responsibilities
Trail Crew - $19.00/hour
- Evaluating assigned horse trails, corrals and facilities for unsafe conditions and reporting any deficiencies to Trail Crew Lead and corral management.
- Responsible for the care, maintenance, and security of assigned horses, mules, equipment and tools.
- Responsible for understanding and following all company safety guidelines.
- Maintains assigned horse trails in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
Qualifications
- Advanced horsemanship and packing skills.
- Limited experience in low impact resource development is helpful.
- Hand tool safety, proficient in the use of hand tools and chainsaws.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of Yellowstone facilities and services.
- Knowledge of Company and Department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation.
Physical Requirements include:
- Must weigh 240 pounds or less for wranglers, lead wranglers, trail crew and 280 pounds or less for stagecoach/teams-wagon drivers.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to mount and dismount horse without assistance.
- Must be able to work in a high-altitude environment.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel and reach for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to speak and project voice for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work outdoors in variable weather (including rain, sleet, snow, direct sunlight, high winds, and temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work with large, domestic animals in a corral/ranch setting and capable of riding horses up to 12 hours a day.
- Must be able to use chemicals for cleaning or animal care.
