Position Summary
The Food & Beverage supervisor plays a key leadership role in creating exceptional member experiences by ensuring consistent, high-quality service across all dining, banquet, and event outlets. This position leads front-line service teams with a focus on hospitality, operational excellence, training and development, and team engagement - aligned with Kalamazoo Country Club's vision of elevating the club dining experience.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
- Lead by example, modeling KCC’s values of warmth, professionalism, hospitality, and member-first service.
- Motivate, coach, and mentor staff to build a collaborative, cohesive team committed to service excellence.
- Reinforce KCC’s F&B vision: hospitality is not just service—it is the creation of memorable experiences.
- Conduct pre-shift huddles, communicate daily goals, business needs, service standards, and special events.
Operational Management
- Oversee daily F&B operations including restaurant, banquet, events, and service staging areas.
- Ensure proper room setups, table layouts, event staging, and style consistency in accordance with service standards.
- Monitor labor forecasts, daily staffing needs, scheduling, and payroll accuracy.
- Maintain inventory control and ensure proper handling, storage, and use of equipment and supplies.
- Guide safe and efficient execution of opening, closing, and cleaning procedures.
Service Excellence & Member Experience
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor to support team members, engage with members, and manage service flow.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly, ensuring a positive outcome and member satisfaction.
- Promote personalized service, anticipating member preferences and enhancing the guest connection experience.
- Ensure all team members deliver thoughtful, attentive, and consistent service.
Training & Staff Development
- Conduct ongoing training for new and existing staff, focusing on service standards, menu knowledge, Northstar POS, safety, and communication.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, corrective support, and recognition.
- Support the development of team leads and high-performing staff.
- Reinforce continuous improvement and learning within the department.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate daily operations and service goals clearly to staff and leadership teams.
- Collaborate closely with culinary, banquet, event planning, bar operations, golf services, and club leadership to ensure unified service delivery.
- Report operational concerns, opportunities, and service feedback to management promptly.
Qualifications
What You Need for this Position
Physical Expectations
- Able to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 8+ hours).
- Able to lift, carry, bend, push, and move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Capable of setting up equipment, furniture, staging, and supplies as needed.
- Able to work safely around cleaning chemicals, equipment, and crowded environments.
Skills & Leadership Competencies
- Strong leadership presence with clear communication and coaching skills.
- Able to effectively prioritize, delegate, and manage staff performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment and composure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Fluent in English; bilingual abilities are a plus.
Professional Expectations
- Passion for hospitality, service excellence, and crafting memorable experiences.
- Strong knowledge of service standards, POS systems, and event operations.
- Previous supervisory experience in hospitality, club environment, restaurant, or banquet operations preferred.
