We’re hiring a Lodging Intern to Live. Work. Explore. this season!

 

Job Summary:Gain exposure in housekeeping and front areas of Lodging operations.

 

The Details:Position Type: SeasonalSeason Dates: January - March 2026Pay: Will be discussed with candidates based upon experienceSchedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

 

Uniform:

A uniform is issued for the position, which shall be worn while on duty.  The employee shall provide his/her own footwear appropriate to the position (black shoes and belt). All employees should wear the appropriate PPE to perform the job task.

 

Responsibilities

  • Continually focus on exploring the Grand Canyon South Rim Lodging Operation, gain exposure with the department, units, staff and procedures.
  • Complete 2 weeks of Housekeeping training, 2 weeks of Guest Service Agent Front Desk training, 2 weeks of Lead GSA training and execution of the role with the final week being spent with the Rooms Office leadership team. (Contact Rooms Office for individual job descriptions for specific JDs for other roles).
  • Spend time with various units ranging from Laundry to porters, with a majority of time being spent at Front Desk.
  • Take various learning and development opportunities related to Lodging.
  • Learn about department schedules, budgets, employee performance tracking and coaching.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current Xanterra South Rim employee.
  • Good standing with current GCSR Department.
  • Previous experience with Computers, Typing, and basic software (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Previous Opera experience preferred. 
  • Desire to gain exposure in Lodging operating department to become a more well rounded operations-centric employee.
  • Ability to interact in a professional and courteous manner with a broad cross-section of guests and staff.
  • Previous Leadership experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

 

Occasionally: Sit, handle, reach, squat/kneel, bend, lift/carry up to 100lbs, push/pull up to 100lbs

Frequently: Walk, lift/carry up to10lbs

Constantly: Stand
