We’re hiring a Parkwide HVAC/Kitchen Technician to Live. Work. Explore. in Columbia Falls, Montana!
Job Summary:Maintaining, repairing, and installing all building HVAC and kitchen equipment across the Lodges of Glacier National Park, ensuring operational efficiency and safety while minimizing downtime.

Responsibilities
- Maintain all refrigeration and HVAC equipment according to preventive maintenance schedule.
- Repair refrigeration and HVAC equipment as indicated on maintenance requests in a timely and correct manner while maintaining cost effectiveness.
- Assist with seasonal schedule for turning on and shutting down evaporative cooler units in the designated buildings.
- Assist with installation of new refrigeration units and heating units.
- Evaluate condition of equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement.
- Diagnose malfunctioning appliances using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the malfunction and correct the problem.
- Advise management regarding safety and cost effectiveness of equipment operation.
- Conduct routine inspections of kitchen equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform all work with guest service in mind, keeping equipment and operational down time to a minimum.
- Oversee completion and documentation of work orders, ensuring accuracy and detail regarding materials, labor, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Adhere to all safety, risk management, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Assist in the training of Food and Beverage personnel in the proper operation of kitchen equipment.
- Train General Maintenance Technicians for basic troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Appropriately represent the company through high levels of professionalism, adhering to policy and procedure, and supporting the operational goals of the park. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Minimum three years’ experience in Refrigeration mechanics, HVAC and refrigeration handling and recovery.
- Ability to repair or replace domestic and commercial air conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment and ice cubers.
- Ability to dehydrate refrigeration systems with use of a vacuum pump.
- Ability to read and use refrigeration analyzing meters.
- Ability to work with voltages ranging from 0-480, single and 3-phase.
- Ability to read refrigeration and electric schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot refrigeration control circuits.
- Ability to drain and winterize evaporative coolers, refrigeration equipment and ice cubers.
- Ability to join refrigeration copper, steel and aluminum piping; identify size of pipe and run steel or plastic pipe for cooling system.
- Ability to conduct daily inspections of refrigeration equipment to determine if equipment is in proper working condition.
- Ability to repair heating systems, which includes heat pumps and electric heat strips ranging from 0-480 volts.
- Must possess physical ability to perform tasks, including entering confined spaces, ascending/descending ladders, and lifting.
- HVAC Associate’s Degree Preferred, Certification: EPA 608
Physical Requirements include:
- Walk distances over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
- Lift and carry a maximum of 50 pounds. Frequent lifting and carrying of supplies, materials, and equipment throughout the day.
- Bend, stretch, reach, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time.
- Working safely with required chemicals, tools, and equipment.
- Required to drive a company vehicle; a driving record check will be completed as part of the standard pre-employment background check.
- Driving for long periods of time (3 hours).
