Job Title: Precision Machinist (CNC Mill or CNC Lathe Specialist)
Pay Rate: $18.00–$20.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time Monday – Friday 10 hrs per day

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Precision Machinist specializing in CNC Mill or CNC Lathe programming and machining. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working independently while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Setup

  • Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs (G-code) for Mill or Lathe operations.
  • Set up machine including material, tooling selection, offsets, and fixture alignment.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings to ensure part accuracy.
  • Select proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.

Machining & Production

  • Operate CNC Mill or Lathe to manufacture precision components.
  • Monitor machine operations and adjust as necessary to maintain tolerances.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.).
  • Maintain production efficiency while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Inspect and document parts as required on inspection sheets.

Quality & Safety

  • Maintain tight tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of CNC machining experience (Mill or Lathe specialization).
  • Proficiency in G-code programming and editing at the machine.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with precision measuring tools and quality inspection processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD/CAM software.
  • Experience machining a variety of materials (steel, aluminum, stainless, plastics).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
  • Good work ethic, dependable, great communication skills, positive team player.
  • Self-motivated, person of high integrity, shows initiative.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to fine detail work.
