The Communications Manager is responsible for the two Belmond properties based in Portofino: Splendido, nestled in the tranquil hillside above Portofino, with the nearby Villa Beatrice; and Splendido Mare, in the heart of Portofino’s Piazzetta.
The role is implementing all communications activities for his/her property, supporting and executing the strategy defined by the Divisional Brand and Marketing Director and the Communications Director measuring effective messaging and communications strategies and their relevance for the property awareness.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PLANNING, EXECUTION & COORDINATION
● You will work closely with the Divisional Communications team to develop and execute property communication plans that support global & divisional business goals.
● Team player with strong interpersonal skills, you will be the key point of contact for internal stakeholders and will facilitate communications across teams to inform and generate maximum visibility for all property and divisional activities.
MEDIA & KOLs RELATIONS & EVENTS
● Manage media and KOLs relations and proactively research new contacts to increase the media and KOLs database.
● Proactively pitch journalists for editorials and single press visits to achieve property press targets and increase brand awareness.
● In charge of organizing media trips and coordinating single visits.
● Develop press material (press releases, news updates, etc), respond to media and agencies enquiries and keep the internal media platforms updated.
● Organise and support the creation and production of property Events, developing relationships with new partners and curating attendees list, based on targets set.
SUPPORT SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT CREATION STRATEGY
● Work closely with the Divisional Social Media Managers when building property communication plans to ensure alignment across all platforms/channels and ensure new stories/campaigns are effectively and efficiently communicated.
● Support the Divisional Communication team and Divisional Social Media teams with the growth of brand advocate community - research and develop new relationships with content creators and photographers.
● Assist and support the Marketing team as key reference person on property, supporting with photo shootings and the implementation of Marketing projects.
LINE MANAGEMENT
● When existing or possible, manage and coach a trainee or Communications Executive with training and career development.
REPORTING & ANALYSIS
● Regularly analyse and report on media coverage, events, initiatives and share successes with key internal stakeholders, through Power Point presentations and written reports.
● Monitor and manage property performance on media platforms such as Launchmetrics (press) and Lefty (social media).
OTHER
● Demonstrate a knowledge of culture, trends, and competitor activities to inform the strategies of the department.
● Be a role model of Belmond’s core behaviors.
● 5+ years of public relations / communications experience, preferably within the Hospitality Industry.
● Highly organized and methodical, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects under pressure, even during peak season.
● An understanding of and sensibility to the luxury hospitality markets.
● Ability to foster collaborative relationships with multi stakeholders and disciplines.
● An imaginative thinker, who can deliver media results through creative storytelling.
● Excellent communication skills with strong presentation & writing skills.
● A passion for excellence.
● High energy and enthusiasm.
● Fluent in Italian and English
● Ability to travel
