The Role – Vision

As Clarion looks ahead, the firm is well positioned for continued growth, both by building upon its strong foundation and by expanding its ability to serve investors through strategic initiatives.  In support of this opportunity, Clarion is seeking to hire an SVP, Strategic Growth, who will play a key role in advancing the firm’s growth agenda through mergers and acquisitions, strategic partnerships, investments, and other corporate initiatives.

The successful candidate will provide immediate impact, engaging with a robust pipeline of active opportunities while also helping to identify and evaluate new avenues for Clarion’s inorganic and organic growth.  The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership within Clarion and Franklin Templeton as well as with external parties.

The role will sit within Clarion Partners while working closely with Franklin Templeton’s global M&A team, supporting corporate development activities across the broader enterprise.

This position will be based at Clarion’s headquarters in New York City.

The Role - Responsibilities

The SVP, Strategic Growth role is both strategic and execution oriented. The successful candidate will proactively identify, evaluate, and execute opportunities that align with Clarion’s long-term growth objectives.  She/he will take ownership across the full transaction lifecycle and will be expected to manage internal and external processes independently.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial Modeling & Valuation: 

  • Lead the development of robust financial models to evaluate M&A and strategic initiatives, including valuation, returns, operating assumptions, and sensitivities.
  • Perform valuation analyses using DCF, public comparables, and precedent transactions.

Deal Execution: 

  • Lead and coordinate financial, legal, and operational due diligence efforts.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for senior leadership, investment committees, and other stakeholders.

Strategic Planning: 

  • Partner with leadership to support long-term growth and expansion initiatives.
  • Evaluate strategic fit, synergies, and integration considerations for potential transactions.

Relationship Management: 

  • Maintain relationships with investment banks, advisors, and potential partners.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams including Finance, Legal, Operations, and Investment leadership.

Market & Industry Analysis: 

  • Research and monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities.
  • Identify and assess potential acquisition targets and strategic partners.

  

The successful candidate will perform other ad hoc projects as they emerge and support Franklin Templeton’s M&A team on global M&A activities as appropriate. 

This role will continue to evolve and will play an integral role in shaping Clarion’s growth strategy over time.
 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will bring a combination of strong technical expertise and interpersonal skills, well suited to a collaborative, high-performance organization.

  • 12+ years of experience in real estate investment banking, corporate development, M&A, or platform investments
  • Highly analytical skill set with deep experience in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence.
  • Strong excel skills; ARGUS skills highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders within Clarion, FT and its SIMS, and external organizations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously.
  • Commitment to a team-oriented, fast-paced culture.

The salary range for this position will be $200,000 – $275,000. This role is eligible for a year-end discretionary bonus; this is not included in the base salary range shown.
