Job Summary:

The Assistant Maintenance Manager will support the Maintenance Manager in supervising staff, scheduling work, and ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks. The position involves communicating with various stakeholders, responding to maintenance requests, and maintaining safety standards while fostering cooperation across departments and with external partners. Additionally, the role includes assisting with construction design, development, and inspections as needed

Responsibilities

  • Will assist the Location Maintenance Manager with all aspects of the maintenance location assigned.
  • Will assist with the supervision and management of all maintenance employees, including scheduling of work and scheduling of employees to accomplish said work.
  • Ensure maintenance and facility operations are accomplished by staff and contractors in a safe, environmentally responsible, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Assists in communicating with all department personnel park-wide and works with all levels of management at the location, including guests, the National Park Service and outside contractors.
  • Responds to maintenance requests by all location departments, as well as work designated by the Maintenance Manager and Facility and Project personnel, as directed.
  • Represents the location Maintenance Department as the Safety Lead and ensures all work is completed in a safe manner and as per Company policy and procedures.
  • Assists with the conceptual design and development of related construction activities and performs plan reviews and inspections as requested.

Qualifications

  • General knowledge of all trades common to facility maintenance and operation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to provide world-class customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Experience supervising groups of ten or more maintenance, construction, or facility operations personnel.
  • Highly developed organizational skills and the ability and confidence to adjust priorities as conditions and circumstances dictate.
  • Must be self-motivated and a proven track record of working independently with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of OSHA General Industry (1910) and Construction (1926) safety and health standards.
  • Above average computer skills to include Microsoft Office software suite and experience with (or the ability to quickly master) Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid, driver’s license with a good driving record for the past 3 years.
  • Within 90 days must attend and complete the Class III Asbestos abatement and removal training and certification program.

 

Physical Requirements include:

  • This position may require the use of respiratory protection and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must possess physical stamina to withstand heavy, labor-related work in an outside environment, including standing, bending, kneeling, crawling for extended periods of time when required.
  • Must be capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time as required.
