The Water and Environmental Analysis Laboratory (WEAL) in the College of Natural Resources is a Wisconsin DNR and DATCP certified laboratory. The WEAL trains student laboratory assistants in analyzing water samples that come from private wells, surface water, and the USGS.
Jobs duties include: preparing sample kits, preparing chemical reagents, using various instrumentation, documenting quality control, and reporting results.
Training is provided. Completion of Chemistry 105 is preferred.
Students hired for summer have priority hiring for the academic year. During the academic year, there is an opportunity to earn Water 381 internship credit.
The lab is open 7:45am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Students are expected to work 30 - 40 hours/week most of the summer. Students may work up to 25 hours/week during the academic year.
Starting pay: $15/hour
